Biography
Seyit Önderol is a PhD candidate in Economics at Erciyes University, working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Faik Bilgili. His doctoral research combines reinforcement learning, long-horizon time-series forecasting, and energy system modelling to analyse cost-optimal pathways for Turkey's electricity sector decarbonisation over a 30-year horizon (2023–2053).
His work addresses critical gaps in the literature on emerging-market energy transitions, where the unique characteristics of Turkey's grid — rapidly growing demand, significant hydropower base, expanding renewable capacity, and complex regional network constraints — require tailored analytical approaches beyond those developed for European or North American systems.
The research produces open, reproducible results accessible through this platform, with all experiment data, model configurations, and analytical code available for scrutiny and replication.
